ABC 13 Houston: Texas voters will decide on 17 constitutional amendments this November
Tom Abrahams wrote for ABC 13 Houston about what’s on the ballot in Texas next month.
Monday, October 6, is the last day to register to vote for the November 4 election. There is a lot on the ballot for every voter in the state.
Everybody’s ballot will look different depending on where they live, but all 19 million registered voters in Texas will share one thing in common- the 17 proposed constitutional amendments put on the ballot by the state legislature and Governor Abbott.
The proposed amendments include a measure that would increase the homestead exemption from $100,000 to $140,000 to offset some of the drastic increases in property taxes.
Another would eliminate the possibility of bail for some felonies, including murder, capital murder, trafficking, and other aggravated crimes.
Plus, the creation of a Texas Water Fund would help pay for the state’s increasing water infrastructure needs.
