KHOU: Harris County leaders react to Texas AG Ken Paxton’s warning over distribution of voter registration applications

Marcelino Benito of KHOU reports on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s threat to sue Texas counties if they mail voter registration forms to county residents.

Harris county leaders did not want to talk about this on camera today, but to our west in Bexar county officials there are defying Ken Paxton, likely setting up another legal battle. 

The latest threat from AG Ken Paxton arrived via letter to two of Texas biggest counties. Paxton warning Harris and Bexar county leaders not to approve mailing out voter registration forms to county residents.

“So this is definitely not an empty threat. The moment Bexar county or Harris county moves forward with this type of plan, the attorney general will file suit”

Paxton, writing, “it may induce the commission of a crime by encouraging individuals who are ineligible to vote to provide false information on the form”.
