Opinion: Don’t let mistake distract from successful Aug. 11 election
Timothy Ehlinger and John Ringheimer, two Wisconsin Pillars, recently published an op-ed in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to affirm their confidence in the successfulness of the Wisconsin primary elections held on August 11, 2026. Dr. Ehlinger is the Wm. Collins Kohler Chair Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin and a Senior Fellow with the Alliance for Peacebuilding. Mr. Ringheimer is the former Sawyer County Republican Party Chair and a Sawyer County Supervisor. Together, they wrote about their experience with Pillars of the Community:
As part of our involvement with the Pillars of the Community project, we have taken a close look at the election system in Wisconsin. We’ve asked tough questions of our election administrators from the state, county and municipal level. Our takeaway is the system is built with redundancies and fail-safes to ensure that, even when human errors happen, we can all have faith that we can trust the accuracy of our election results — even when we don’t like the outcome or it takes longer than we’d like to find out who won.
