Opinion: Federalized voting invites hacks, more cost and loss of local control
Tom Still, the past president of the Wisconsin Technology Council, highlighted Pillars of the Community’s work in the state of Wisconsin in an op-ed in the Wisconsin State Journal:
Trump is still claiming he beat Joe Biden in 2020, but five years later there is no credible evidence such a large-scale fraud took place. Trump simply lost Wisconsin that time around, yet his efforts to put the federal government in charge of state and local elections persist.
These efforts are likely unconstitutional — and could make it easier for cyber-crooks to “hack” the system while costing state and local governments money to make unnecessary changes. Fortunately, some bipartisan groups are working to dispel notions of election insecurity.
One such group is called “Pillars of the Community,” led by long-time Republican lawyer Ben Ginsberg and Democrat elections expert Bob Bauer. They met last week with people from a half-dozen states, including Wisconsin, to offer details.
