With less than two weeks to go before Election Day, Pillars of the Community, co-chaired by Ben Ginsberg and Bob Bauer, is actively working to boost voter confidence in the security of Wisconsin’s election process. In a recently published statement, Pillars assured voters that “as Election Day approaches, we, Pillars of the Community in Wisconsin, are united in expressing our confidence in the integrity of our state’s election system.” Bauer and Ginsberg emphasized their firsthand assessment of Wisconsin’s election safeguards, having reviewed policies and the efforts of local election officials to ensure accuracy, transparency, and security.

Pillars recent public statement affirming the integrity of Wisconsin’s election procedures has received endorsements from over 30 Wisconsin community leaders, law enforcement officials, and veteran advocates. These individuals work alongside election clerks and outside experts to evaluate the transparency and accuracy of election processes, and they actively share their insights on these safeguards with their communities.

On October 22nd, during a luncheon at the Wisconsin Technology Council, Ginsberg and Bauer addressed the challenge of overcoming partisan division to inform voters about the established safeguards and proper functioning of the election process. Bauer stressed the importance of voters understanding the professionalism and secure procedures governing elections, separate from the inevitable political conflicts over election results.

Here are some highlights from the discussion:

  • Bob Bauer on Pillars’ role in restoring trust in elections: “This has nothing to do with conflicts over election results—those conflicts will break out, we already can be sure of it,” he said. “The fundamental issue that we’re addressing is the basic professionalism of the efforts to put the elections on in a way that voters can have confidence in.”
  • Ben Ginsberg assured voters that the Wisconsin’s electoral system is both accurate and secure: “It’s a complex system, and mistakes are going to occur in my experience, and I think this has been increasingly true as election administration has become professionalized, those mistakes are anticipated, planned for, learned from, acknowledged and corrected, and that’s one of the things that marks truly professional election administration.”
  • Ben Ginsberg, discussing challenges to reliable and accurate electoral processes, observed that “if that faith in the system operating properly to select the real winners of an election is challenged too much, then that really sort of hurts, deteriorates, the basic foundations on which this country is based, which is the peaceful transfer of power and losers accepting results.”

The luncheon reassured Wisconsinites of the security, accuracy, and reliability of their election processes, providing attendees with a clear understanding of the safeguards that ensure accuracy and security in the state’s elections. As Election Day approaches, Ginsberg, Bauer, and community leaders emphasized their confidence in the integrity of Wisconsin’s electoral system.
