Bob Mayo of WTAE reports on Washington County, Pennsylvania’s preapartions for Election Day in November.

At the Washington County Elections Department warehouse, they’re testing the voting machines, running logic and accuracy tests on units that fill a large storage room. Officials spoke with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 about preparations and expectations for election day and election night.

Those voting machines are being readied for up to 144,000 registered voters at 180 polling places.

“We always prepare for technology issues. So we do have backup hand-marked paper ballots in the event that there would be a power outage,” said Melanie Ostrander, Washington County elections director.

Judges of elections will converge at the elections department here after polls close, bringing with them the secured and stored voting results to be loaded into the computer system for election returns.
